Bloodborne Pathogens Training
December 1991- Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) in the U.S. Department of Labor issued regulations regarding bloodborne pathogen (BBP) occupational exposure to reduce risk for workers. In Ohio, public employees are subject to Public Employee Risk Reduction Program (PERRP). PERRP regulations are consistent with OSHA regulations.
The Bloodborne Pathogens Standard was a response to the growing danger posed by two particular bloodborne diseases: human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) with its related disease of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and the hepatitis B virus (HBV), which can cause serious and life-threatening illness.

Safety and Violence Prevention Training
In 2007, Ohio House Bill 276 mandated that the Ohio Department of Education work with state agency partners and education organizations to prepare a model policy that would guide every Ohio school district in developing a policy prohibiting harassment, intimidation and bullying. The bill also required ODE to develop a safety and violence prevention curriculum to train elementary school professionals to detect child abuse. Ohio House Bill 150, enacted in July 2009, extended this requirement to include public middle school and high schools personnel.
Completing this online course fulfills the requirement from the Ohio Department of Education.
This curriculum is specially designed to heighten participants' awareness of student depression and suicide, alcohol and drug abuse and violence against children, including child abuse and bullying. While it is not designed to provide an in-depth and comprehensive training on mental health for educators, this curriculum will complement existing resources that schools are currently using.
